Practical Nurse

Gain the skills to earn professional licensure

Practical Nursing Diploma – Do You Have What It Takes?

Practical Nurses (PNs) are an important part of the healthcare field, supporting physicians, Registered Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners, and working directly with patients to provide critical hands-on care. Nursing is a profession that requires great heart, deep compassion, and a high level of commitment. As a Practical Nurse (PN), you will be responsible for measuring and recording vital signs, administering medications and injections, collecting lab specimens, and utilizing electronic health record systems.

This is a great industry to get into but it takes a special person with a basic ability and a solid commitment; are you ready for the challenge?

Where Will I Be Able to Work?
As a graduate, you will be prepared for entry-level employment as a Practical Nurse in a variety of healthcare settings, including long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, assisted living centers, medical offices, clinics, and home healthcare agencies.

What Skills Will I Develop?
As a graduate, you will have learned a range of duties, including how to measure and record vital signs, administer medications and injections, start and monitor IVs, initiate bladder catheterization, collect laboratory specimens, record information in electronic health records, work with RNs in the care of acutely ill patients, and assist older adults with activities of daily living. Graduates will be prepared to transfer to a Registered Nursing program if desired. Graduates of LVC’s PN program who wish to pursue an Associate of Applied Science, Nursing degree and become an RN will receive advanced placement status and have only one additional year of schooling.

Graduates of Las Vegas College’s Practical Nursing program will be prepared to sit for the NCLEX-PN licensure examination by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

I had such an amazing experience at the school I attended the medical assistant program I learned so much. Absolutely loved my teachers Ms. J and Ms. G they both really care about the students learning. Both taught me so much and helped with all procedures like injections or blood draws. The school does a good job on helping with extern and making sure you feel comfortable where you are located.
